Brian Palmer

Brian Palmer is Associate Professor of Dance and Chair of Theatre and Dance at Jacksonville University and has been a member of the faculty since 2002. Professor Palmer began his career as a professional ballet dancer, spending nine years with the Richmond Ballet and two years with the Suzanne Farrell Ballet, sponsored by the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, DC. He continues to perform annually in the First Coast Nutcracker in Jacksonville.

Professor Palmer’s professional organization accomplishments include serving as a dance review panelist for Florida’s Division of Cultural Affairs, and as a Board of Directors member of the Florida Dance Association. In 2014–15, he was named the Jacksonville University Professor of the Year.

Professor Palmer serves NASD as a visiting evaluator and was a past member of the Committee on Nominations. He was first elected as Secretary in 2019.

Professor Palmer received a Master of Fine Arts in Dance from Florida State University, where he was the recipient of a Suzanne Farrell Fellowship, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance from Radford University.
