Sharon Story has served as Dean of the Atlanta Ballet Centre for Dance Education since 1996. She joined the Atlanta Ballet Centre after a professional dance career that spanned more than 20 years, including tenures with the Joffrey Ballet, the School of American Ballet, New York City Ballet, Atlanta Ballet, and Boston Ballet.
She serves on community and national boards including the Cobb Energy Center Education Advisory Board and Kennesaw State University Advisory Board for Dance. Other positions include member of the Cobb Chamber of Commerce, Director of Atlanta Ballet Centre Theater, and Honor Company of the Southeastern Regional Ballet Association (SERBA). Honors and awards received include Atlanta Ballet Gala Honoree in 2003, and the Abbey Award Nominee for Atlanta Ballet Centre for Dance Education. Dean Story received the 2008 Prestigious Partner Award from Fulton County Schools and Atlanta Ballet Centre Theater, and was selected to represent the Southeast region for two years at the Jackson International Ballet Competition. In April 2007, she was the subject of the cover article for Dance Teacher Now.
Dean Story served on the NASD Commission on Accreditation from 2008 – 2014, and was elected to the Board of Directors in 2014. She currently serves NASD as a visiting evaluator.
Dean Story graduated from the School of American Ballet, and the American Ballet Center, Joffrey Ballet School, where she trained with Robert Joffrey.
