Sharon Story

Sharon Story has served as Dean of the Atlanta Ballet Centre for Dance Education since 1996. She joined the Atlanta Ballet Centre after a professional dance career that spanned more than 20 years, including tenures with the Joffrey Ballet, the School of American Ballet, New York City Ballet, Atlanta Ballet, and Boston Ballet.

She serves on many community and national boards including the Cobb Energy Center Education Advisory Board and Kennesaw State University Advisory Board for Dance. Other positions include member of the Cobb Chamber of Commerce, Director of Atlanta Ballet Centre Theater, and Honor Company of the Southeastern Regional Ballet Association (SERBA). She has also earned many accolades over the course of her career, such as Atlanta Ballet Gala Honoree in 2003, and the Abbey Award Nominee for Atlanta Ballet Centre for Dance Education. Dean Story received the 2008 Prestigious Partner Award from Fulton County Schools and Atlanta Ballet Centre Theater, and was selected to represent the Southeast region for two years at the Jackson International Ballet Competition. In April 2007, she was the feature cover article for Dance Teacher Now. She was the recipient of a full scholarship with the Joffrey Ballet, trained under Robert Joffrey, and was a Ford Foundation Scholarship recipient with the School of American Ballet.

Dean Story served on the NASD Commission on Accreditation from 2008-2014, and was elected to the Board of Directors in September 2014. She also currently serves as a visiting evaluator.

Dean Story graduated from the School of American Ballet, and the American Ballet Center, Joffrey Ballet School.
