Elizabeth Gillaspy

Elizabeth Gillaspy is a Professor and has been the Director of the School for Classical and Contemporary Dance at Texas Christian University (TCU) in Fort Worth, TX since 2014. She has taught all levels of ballet technique, pointe, variations, choreography, and teaching methods and choreographs for DanceTCU. She started the first, full-time high school dance program in Fort Worth ISD, where she taught for five years, and in 2006 was named the National Dance Association’s Outstanding College/University Dance Educator.

Professor Gillaspy’s choreography has been performed in Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, Bulgaria, France, and throughout the United States in venues including Alvin Ailey Citigroup Theater (NY), New York Live Arts, TriBeca Arts Center, Dance Gala Hiroshima, Korean Dance Festival (Seoul) and with Orlando Ballet (Bujones).  In 2010, she launched her project-based company, Nymbal-new ballet, for creation and performance of contemporary ballet choreography. She served as President of CORPS de Ballet International, Inc. from 2008-2010 and is a regular adjudicator for American College Dance Association conferences across the nation.

Professor Gillaspy received her ballet training at North Carolina School of the Arts and American Ballet Theater School, and holds a Master of Fine Arts in Ballet from TCU.
